The 17th district or also called "Hernals" is a district in the northwest of Vienna and borders on the districts of Penzing, Ottakring, Josefstadt, Währing and Döbling.

Approx. 57,180 inhabitants live on an area of 11.35 km². Due to its topography, the Türkenschanzpark is a very attractive landscape and, because of its ponds and streams, waterfalls and fountains, it is still very popular with the population as an excursion destination.
