Thanks to the direct connection via heated driveway to Klosterneuburger Straße, which leads directly to Vienna, Vienna can be reached by car within a few minutes. Monastery Klosterneuburg

The history of Klosterneuburg is closely connected with the history of the Augustinian Canonry, which also contributes significantly to the name Klosterneuburg. Originally, the foundation stone of Klosterneuburg Abbey was laid in the 12th century. After several centuries and alterations, the abbey today presents itself as an impressive conglomerate of medieval, baroque and historical buildings and houses an important art collection. The monastery also plays an important role in the cultivation of wine, with over 108 hectares under cultivation. This makes it not only one of the largest, but also the oldest winery in Austria. Originally founded in 1114, the winery is considered an important regional economic factor and, despite its awareness of tradition, manages to adapt to modern requirements. Since 2009 Klosterneuburg Abbey has been the first winery in Central Europe to offer a CO2-neutral wine. In addition to viticulture, the monastery also plays an important role in agriculture, forestry, real estate, culture and tourism, as the monastery is open to visitors all year round and is one of the most important sights of the country. At the same time, the monastery's individual businesses place great emphasis on sustainability, CO2 reduction and social responsibility. Responsibility.

Danube Island

The Danube Island is not only part of the flood protection, but also one of the most important local recreation areas of Vienna and Klosterneuburg. It is an artificial island up to 250 m wide between the Danube and the New Danube and has a lot to offer for people, animals and plants. The Danube Island is a popular cycling route and is also ideal for water-related leisure activities. Several very popular public lidos can be found along the banks, including the most famous of them, the Goose Pond. Along the old Danube, there are also a number of sailing schools and boat rentals.

Lido Klosterneuburg

The lido Klosterneuburg offers on its approx. 28ha large leisure and swimming area besides the classic swimming pool facilities also a natural Danube old arm. The bathing area of the lido delights bathers of all ages with an adventure pool with water slide, current canal, waterfall, bottom bubble, massage bay, sports pool as well as a children's pool and sun sail. For sports enthusiasts the lido offers numerous activities.

Kahlenberg near Vienna

The Kahlenberg belongs to the Vienna Woods and is one of the sightseeings of Vienna as well as a traditional Sunday excursion destination of the Viennese, as from the Kahlenberg one has a view over the whole of Vienna and in case of a good visibility up to the Small Carpathians in Slovakia. Its peak towers above the Vienna Basin by about 320 m. From the Stefaniewarte, which is located on the highest point of the mountain, one can also see parts of Lower Austria. Next to the observation tower, which carried broadcasting antennas from 1953 to 1956, there is a 165 m high, guyed tubular steel mast of the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), which is used for the distribution of TV and VHF programmes as well as for directional radio.

This transmission mast, erected in 1974, carries high operational rooms (which is untypical for such constructions) and has shaped the appearance of the Kahlenberg ever since. On the mountain plateau just below the summit is the small church of St. Josef, in front of which there are bus stations and a large car park. From there, one gets after a few steps to the panorama terrace at the terrain level that slopes down to Vienna. Until approximately 2004, there was a restaurant here that was built by the famous arquitect Erich Boltenstern in the 1930s. Parts of this former restaurant, the old terrace as well as the adjoining, since many years Vacant hotel ruins were demolished and an apartment house was built instead in 2007.

In addition, there is a (heavily modernised) restaurant and a new viewing terrace on the plateau.
